However, from this standpoint, we can imply that happiness is a short-term feature of a personality trait that can only be temporary.

Consequently, happiness is often confused with or equated to pleasure, bliss, or ecstasy.

In positive psychology, happiness can be best defined as an emotional state characterized by contentment, joy, and self-fulfilment.

Generally, people describe happiness as a positive feeling or emotional trait that happens in the present moment.

Happiness can be a long-term feeling of satisfaction and contentment that includes two major components – emotional balance and life satisfaction.

Some people merely associate happiness with pleasure. While this can be sometimes beneficial, we need to make a distinction between these two important terminologies.

Although not a secure, permanent state, happiness is a way more stable, longer-lasting state than pleasure. Pleasure can only be felt instantly while happiness can stay longer.
