Smoothies are delicious and provide many health benefits. When you want the best taste and the most nutrition, it is important to use the right protein powder.
Hemp protein powder is the ideal product. There are many reasons to use it in every smoothie but more on that in a moment.
First let’s see how to make green smoothie with hemp protein powder.
How To Make Green Smoothie With Hemp Protein Powder
This is a recipe I personally like and use almost every day.
Ingredients:
250ml unsweetened Oat milk (or any plant milk of your choice)
2 spoonfuls of hemp protein powder
1 full teaspoon of green powder of your choice
1 flat tablespoon of raw cocoa powder (optional)
Half a banana
About 8 strawberries
Directions:
- Pour unsweetened Oat milk to your blending dish
2. Add hemp protein powder, green powder and raw cocoa powder
3. Add banana and strawberries
4. Put a top of the blending dish on and blend everything together in your blending machine
This is how I like my protein smoothie best. It is easy and quick to make, and really nutritious. Sometimes I will opt out of adding raw cocoa powder, if I don’t feel like having a chocolate taste that day.
It is intentionally made sugar-free (i.e. free from added sugar) and not too sweet in taste overall (especially without cocoa powder), which is how I like.
Feel free to play with the ingredients yourself to find your best ‘fit’. If you feel the smoothie is not sweet enough for you, just add more fruit eg 1 whole banana.
Although I added green powder to my smoothie and hemp powder is also earthy green in color, the smoothie turned brown in color because of raw cocoa power and the dominant fruit color-here strawberries.
In case you want your smoothie not only to contain green powders but also to look visually green, try not adding raw cocoa and swap strawberries for a lighter in color fruit (or add the whole banana instead of half of it).
Alternatively, check my post with alkaline superfoods smoothie and juice recipes, choose one of them and simply add hemp protein powder in.
I personally like to have one more fruit aside from banana in my smoothie to add this kind of ‘freshness’ to the taste that breaks down the sweetness of the banana alone.

Is Hemp Powder A Good Source Of Protein?
The answer to this question is “Yes!” If you want to include more protein in your diet, a green smoothie made with hemp protein powder is right for you!
Many factors influence the amount of protein a person should have each day, including age, gender, body composition, and activity levels. 0.36 grams per pound of body weight is generally recommended.
For average women with an inactive lifestyle, 46 grams would be appropriate. For inactive men, 56 grams is appropriate.
You can use a protein calculator, or ask your doctor for advice, if you need to know how much protein is appropriate for you.
What Does Hemp Protein Do For Your Body?
Every system and organ in your body depends on protein to function and to stay healthy.
You may not be aware of how many benefits are provided by hemp protein, along with the additional benefits of its other nutrients.
- The powder can improve your cardiovascular health. It can reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, metabolic syndrome, and atherosclerosis. It can provide anti-inflammatory benefits, and improve cholesterol levels.
- The dietary fiber can improve your digestive health. It may be helpful in reducing the risk of bowel cancer. The fiber can also stabilize the blood sugar levels.
- The high levels of amino acids can improve mental clarity and boost blood circulation.
- The Omega-6 fatty acid supports bone health. You are less likely to experience bone loss. The Omega-3 fatty acid benefits your skeletal system. These fatty acids can lower your risk of bone fractures, especially as you grow older.
- Antioxidants remove free radicals from your body. This can reduce inflammation, reduce your risk of chronic health issues, and even slow the signs of natural aging.
- Hemp protein powder boosts your immune system. This can reduce your risk of minor and serious health problems. It can improve your overall health.
- As protein repairs muscles and tissue, it is useful if you exercise. You can have faster recovery after your workouts.
- The combination of protein and fiber can help you reach your weight loss goals. There are three ways hemp protein powder can provide this benefit.
First, it will regulate your blood sugar levels. When your blood sugar levels are stable, you will not have the spikes and drops in glucose that cause hunger and cravings for sugar.
Second, the protein and fiber will help you stay full longer after you have eaten. You can be satisfied with smaller meals, and be less likely to snack between meals.
Third, as the protein powder boosts your metabolism, you will burn more calories.
- Protein is an excellent source of natural energy. If you are often tired or fatigued during the day, a green smoothie made with hemp protein powder can help you feel refreshed and energized.
It will be easier to meet your responsibilities to your job or your family. You will have more energy to exercise, so working out should be more effective.
Hemp vs Marijuana: Are They The Same?
When many people hear the word “hemp,” they immediately think of marijuana. If you assume hemp and marijuana are the same, this is only a myth.
If you have not tried hemp protein powder, you need to know there are some important differences.
While hemp and marijuana both come from the same plant family, they are entirely different plants.
If you compare the two, you can see Cannabis Sativa (hemp) and Cannabis Indica (marijuana) have different leaves, compositions, and sizes.
The most important difference, though, is the THC content. THC is the psychoactive property. On average, marijuana contains 5% to 20% THC, although some can contain up to 30% of this substance.
In contrast, hemp contains no more than 0.3% THC. While this is only a trace amount, some hemp products contain none at all. Because of this difference, you do not need to worry about “getting high” or failing a drug test.
You can enjoy green smoothies with hemp protein powder whenever you wish, and the only effects will be better health from a delicious drink.
